Welcome
25 - 26 July 2015 Following the success of two previous one-day Male LUTS meetings (in 2011 and 2013), the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand is planning a two-day Symposium covering both male and female functional urology: The 1st USANZ Functional Urology Symposium incorporating the 3rd Biennial Male LUTS Symposium. The FUS Symposium will be held on the weekend of 25 - 26 July at the Sheraton on the Park hotel in Sydney’s CBD. After the success of the previous two events, and with the addition of a female urology program, we expect a great response. Our distinguished international faculty will be joined by a host of well-renowned local urology and urogynaecology specialists, including: Lewis Chan, Peter Chin,, Jennifer King, Vincent Tse, Henry Woo, Joe Lee, Helen O'Connell, and Eric Chung to name a few. 27- 28 July 2015 This workshop is aimed at all consultants, registrars and trainees working in urology. The workshop will cover the theory behind the use of the 532nm laser wavelength in the surgical treatment of benign prostatic obstruction. The latest knowledge and techniques will be comprehensively covered to prepare the new user for commencement of the use of this technology and to both update and up skill the existing user. Photoselective vaporisation of the prostate has become an established treatment option for men and is now widely used in Australian hospitals. The green light wavelength has been used primarily to vaporise prostate tissue but more recently, the technique of enucleation has been pioneered and provides an alternate mechanism to tackle the larger prostates. The workshop will feature interactive presentations including discussion on case selection, technique and the management of the more difficult clinical scenarios. The current literature with the most immediately available data will be presented. A highlight of the workshop will be the interactive live case demonstrations of both PVP and GreenLEP (Green Laser Enucleation of the Prostate). Convenor |
