Dr. Gaétan Tardif is an academic physiatrist and health care executive with leadership experience in several professional and not-for-profit organizations. He is Medical Program Director – Rehabilitation and Post-Acute Care at the university Health Network and a Professor in the Department of Medicine and director, Division of Physiatry (PM&R) at the University of Toronto.
Gaétan, who was born in Saguenay, Québec completed his medical degree at l'Université Laval and holds specialty certifications in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Gaétan is very involved in leadership development and is on Faculty at the Physician Manager Institute of the Canadian Medical Association. He was President of the Canadian Society of Physician Executives from 2009 to 2011. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian College of Health Services Executives.
He was a member of the medical team for the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Paralympic Games, as well as Chief Medical Officer for the Salt Lake City 2002 and Torino 2006 Paralympic Games. He served as Assistant Chef de Mission for the Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games and was Chef de mission for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. He was elected President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee in May 2013.
Gaétan also served as Director of Administration and Chair of the HR Committee on the Canadian Paralympic Committee Board of Directors from 2008 to 2013 and was a member of the Games Committee from 2006 to 2013.

Gavin has worked in neurological rehabilitation for 25 years. He currently combines clinical work at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne and clinical research at the University of Melbourne. Since he began working at the Epworth Hospital 20 years ago, he has developed a program to teach advanced gait and running skills to people with neurological injuries. This program led to his doctoral studies titled ‘The development of a high-level mobility assessment tool (HiMAT) for people with traumatic brain injury’. Since that time he has been a Post-doctoral Research Fellow focusing on the assessment, classification and treatment of mobility limitations following traumatic brain injury. Gavin was awarded Fellowship to the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2011. He has over 60 peer-reviewed journal publications and over 80 international and national conference presentations. Gavin currently holds a NHMRC TRIP fellowship at the University of Melbourne.

Ian is a Senior Staff Specialist and the Research Team Leader of Westmead Hospital’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, holding academic positions with the University of Sydney and Macquarie University. He is widely published, particularly in traumatic brain injury and spasticity management. He completed a PhD in 2008 and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2014 for service to brain injury rehabilitation.

David Bowen is the inaugural CEO of the National Disability Insurance Agency. He has worked as a consultant to the insurance industry and health and disability sector. He is one of the architects of the NSW Lifetime Care and Support scheme and as inaugural CEO was responsible for implementation of the initiative. Prior to this he was General Manager of the Motor Accidents Authority for 11 years.
David is a lawyer by profession with a strong background in administrative and insurance law. Professor Mary Galea is Professorial Fellow in the Department of Medicine (Royal Melbourne Hospital), and previously held the Foundation Chair of Clinical Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne. She is a physiotherapist and neuroscientist whose research program includes both laboratory-based and clinical projects with the overall theme of control of voluntary movement by the brain, and factors that promote recovery following nervous system damage. Professor Galea is currently the principal investigator on a large multi-site program of research, SCIPA (Spinal Cord Injury and Physical Activity), investigating the effects of exercise after spinal cord injury.

Chris graduated from Melbourne University in 1996 and first worked with amputee patients at Caulfield General Medical Centre in 1997 whilst in a junior physiotherapist position. Chris quickly developed a deep interest and passion for working with the amputee population. In 2003, Chris became the senior clinician in amputee rehabilitation at Barwon Health in Geelong. Whilst Chris’ career has progressed such that he is now the Chief Physiotherapist at Barwon Health, he has maintained his clinical role in amputee rehabilitation until present. Dr Manjula Marella is a Research Fellow at the Nossal Institute for Global Health, The University of Melbourne. She is an optometrist from India specialised in low vision rehabilitation. She completed her PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2011 and her doctoral thesis focused on developing and validating an evaluation framework for community-based rehabilitation programs. Dr Marella's postdoctoral research involved in the development and validation of the rapid assessment of disability (RAD) questionnaire to measure disability and its impact in terms of participation and inclusion in the community. Her research interests are measurement of disability and its impact, evaluation of disability inclusive development programs and development and validation of client reported outcome measures using qualitative and quantitative (Rasch analysis) techniques.

Louisa Ng is a rehabilitation physician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital who has an interest in neurorehabilitation both clinically and academically. She completed her MD in 2012 in the area of rehabilitation and Motor Neurone Disease and has been involved in a number of RCTs, smaller studies and Cochrane reviews in various areas of neurorehabilitation including, most recently in sexuality, smoking, environmental enrichment and cable-assisted treadmills for mobility.
