Free Paper Presentation Guidelines

Please find some guidelines and useful information below for all free paper presenters. 

Session Timing

All oral free papers are allocated 9 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions. The session will be kept strictly to time.

Abstracts and Program

Free paper abstracts will be included in the 2026 conference app, a hard copy handbook will not be available. 

Presentation Format

Please keep to a maximum of 10 PowerPoint slides in 16:9 format. As a guide, it is best to use no more than 8 lines of bold print per page, and try not to make the slides too busy!

At The Conference

PowerPoint presentations need to be downloaded onto a laptop or USB stick and brought with you to the conference. Even if you would prefer to use your own laptop, please ensure you check-in to the Speaker Preparation Room, at least 1 hour prior to your session.

The session room will include standard audio visual equipment including a laptop and data projection.

Free Paper Prize and Presentation

The Australian Pain Society is excited to offer the winner of the best free paper a complimentary registration to the IASP 2026 World Congress on Pain. The winner will be announced on the last day of the Scientific Meeting, on Wednesday 22 April 2026. The winner will then have the opportunity to present their free paper presentation again, on the plenary stage. All presenters are required to stay for the final plenary to be considered for this prize.

Registrations

All presenters must register by the early bird registration deadline of 24 February 2026, for their presentation to be included in the program. A personalised registration link has been sent to all free paper presenters. If you cannot find this link you can also register here. If you would like this link resent please email the Conference Secretariat.

A reminder no funding or discounted registrations are available for submitted abstracts authors.
