DARWIN
Litchfield National Park
Just 90 minutes' drive from Darwin lies Litchfield National Park. Amongst its sandstone escarpments are many waterfalls, crystal clear swimming holes and bushwalks through lush monsoon rainforests.
Tiwi Islands
Tiwi people are known for their beautiful and distinctive art and craft. A trip to the Tiwi Islands is a chance to share their culture, cool off in a waterhole or go walking to hear the stories of their ancestors. The islands lie 80 kms north of Darwin, just 20 minutes' flight by light aircraft or around two hours by ferry across the Timor Sea.
Follow the Explorer's Way
Drive the same route as famous Australian explorer John McDouall Stuart, from Darwin to Alice Springs. Along the way, you'll experience dramatic changes in landscape and climate, from the tropical north through the outback to the desert of the Red Centre are sure to impress.
KAKADU
World Heritage-listed Kakadu is Australia's largest National Park, covering around 20,000 square kilometres. Just under three hours' drive from Darwin, Kakadu is an area of immense beauty and aboriginal significance. Waterfalls, tropical rainforests, towering escarpments and magnificent natural galleries of Aboriginal art exist side-by-side, in an area described as an ecological and cultural masterpiece. Few destinations on earth have the mystique of this unique and wild place.
Arnhem Land
This is an area so special that entry restrictions apply. Owned by the local Aboriginal people, Arnhem Land is one of the last great, unspoiled areas of the world, free from 21st Century development and where the local culture remains largely intact.

Aboriginal culture
In Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land, sharing and learning about aboriginal art and culture is central to the experience. Some tours explore the spectacular bush environment, searching for traditional foods and medicines. Others cruise rivers and billabongs or tell you the story of the didgeridoo. All provide an extraordinary insight into a timeless culture.
Adventure
Cruise past giant crocodiles or climb to scenic rock pools and waterfalls for a refreshing swim. Sleep out in a tent or swag and ease into the natural rhythms of the Park.
Bird watching
Kakadu is home to over 275 bird species, or one-third of all those in Australia, making it a mecca for bird watchers. Some eight species are endemic to the region, with many others rare or endangered.

KATHERINE
The town of Katherine, just three hours south of Darwin, is often described as the place 'where the outback meets the tropics'.
Katherine is the perfect base for exploring the Gulf region, the southern part of Kakadu National Park and the Victoria River region – places where you can immerse yourself in nature and adventure.
Katherine's charms are more unexpected than the Territory's biggest icons, so it's great for a complete and absorbing change of scene pre- or post- your business event. It's a refreshing, eye-opening destination, with lots to see and do.
Nitmiluk National Park
Previously known as Katherine Gorge National Park, Nitmiluk National Park is home to 13 spectacular sandstone gorges, including Katherine Gorge itself. Most are best experienced from the water (easily done via boat cruise or rented canoe) or from above in a helicopter.
Victoria River
The beautiful Victoria River, running through deep valleys and gorges, is one of the Northern Territory's most scenic places to catch barramundi.
Gulf Region
East of Katherine lies the Gulf of Carpentaria, with remote, unspoiled waterways offering some of Australia's most exciting and productive fishing.
Daly River
Located between Darwin and Katherine, the Daly region's unique ecosystems, hot springs and gorges make it a fantastic spot to camp and bushwalk.

Savannah Way Tourism Drive
The Savannah Way is a great Australian adventure drive. Running between Cairns in Queensland and Broome in Western Australia, the main route runs through Katherine. It's a great chance to experience part of a road trip few have ever managed coast to coast.
History and heritage
Get in touch with Katherine's early history at a number of sites around the region, including the oldest homestead in the Northern Territory.
Adventure
