The 2021 Meet Darwin famil is in full swing giving a group of event organisers a first-hand look at what the city can offer as an event destination.
Kicking off at the Darwin Convention Centre, the four-day event marks the first of three re-imagined Meet Darwin programs planned this year with further programs scheduled for July and August.
Timed to coincide with BASSINTHEGRASS, the program included a business session, engagement with Tourism Top End’s Welcome to the Dry event and an industry networking event, providing an opportunity for planners to engage with multiple industry partners.
“The Northern Territory is a competitive, distinctive and iconic destination to host business events and offer experiences that are different in every sense,” said Acting Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Chansey Paech..
“The Territory Labor Government’s Turbocharging Tourism investment in business events attraction has already secured 94 business events which are expected to deliver an estimated $63 million in delegate spending to the local economy.”
One of the highlights was an exclusive dinner featuring the Darwin Convention Centre’s Seven Seasons dining experience shining a light on the centre’s capacity, capability and cuisine.
“The Meet Darwin program allows event planners to experience first-hand both the world-class facilities and capabilities of the Darwin Convention Centre and the diverse and iconic experiences we offer as a destination,” said Darwin Convention Centre general manager Peter Savoff.
“We look forward to showcasing how our community comes together to welcome and support future business events to Darwin and the Top End.”
